Why are Cashmere sweaters so expensive?

The answer is one word: Special.

Why are they so special? I will tell you all about it!

I started researching because one day my daughter asked me, “Mom why is this sweater so expensive?” She also said, “Is this wool? It feels softer.” I knew the answers to those questions. What I didn’t know was why cashmere was so expensive. I felt I would like to know more about this beautiful garment. So I researched.

I thought it was a good post to share with you guys!

Cashmere sweaters are made from goat wool, the name is an old spelling of Kashmir, the geographical region of India, where these type of goats where originally from. Now they are found in neighboring countries like China, and even in Mongolia. Today, the Cashmere goats are bred in many different countries around the globe.

So here are some facts:

  • Cashmere fiber is six times finer than the human hair.
  • It has great insulation properties.
  • It is soft and a dense material, can keep users warm even when in extreme temperatures.
  • To make one average-sized sweater, you will need wool from between 3 and 5 goats.

Any goat can provide cashmere.

These cashmere outfits that I’m sharing all feature cashmere garments between 1 to 5 years old!

  • Garments made of cashmere keep their original shape even after years of use.
  • Cashmere products do not stretch and do not fade.

Cashmere Care and Storage

How to Wash Cashmere

  •  Hand wash them. (click on hand wash for instructions)
  • Dry cleaners
  • Laundry machine on Delicates/ Hand Wash setting, this is how I clean my cashmere.
  • Dry them on a flat rack, never hang the sweater

Storage

  • Store them in a tote with cedar moth balls.
  • Ziploc bags and put 2 cedar balls in each bag.

Laundry Fine Detergent

I use Glamorous Wash Diva sense to wash my fine clothes; I love the smell. It’s a warm and delicious fragrance of flowers and fruits. A rich aromatic chocolate and amber complete this luscious blend.

Click on the photo to buy it on amazon it is on sale!

I buy it by the gallon, because it is a better price. I also use it to wash my regular clothes because of how fresh and soft they are when they come out of the dryer machine. Try it, you will love it too!

I also recommend Woolite Detergent. It is easy to find and cheaper.
